Bonavista, NL to Gander, NL

Driving day. 

On the way to Gander we stopped at Terra Nova National Park.  We weren't planning to stay long - we stayed 5 hours.

Had a nice lunch at the cafe - homemade turkey soup and tea

Then we went for a short hike along the coast and in the woods 

Moose tracks on the trail but no moose sighting

The ferns were very pretty

Back at the visitor center, an Art Demonstration was happening

Christine, the artist, had a hands on demo.  Christine is getting out the paints for me.

On a real hunk of salt dried cod, on the skin I brushed on black paint, then brushed on assorted colors of my choosing

Next a clean piece of paper goes on top and I rubbed over it

And voila, my fish art was taken outside to dry in the sun

With my art in the car we headed for Gander.

Bonavista, Newfoundland

Our wonderful B & B, last night and tonight

After bacon and pancakes we set off to do the Skerwink Trail - starts out in the woods

Shortly, we had two options cliffs or inland

We went for the cliffs

Next was out to Cape Bonavista to see the lighthouse and puffins

Back to Bonavista - lunch at Neil's Yard

Cute spot, over looking the water

Time for more puffins, out to Elliston

We walked out on the peninsula to see the puffins

Elliston is the Root Cellar Capital of the World!

Last walk out to the edge

Called it a day - whew.

Tomorrow we start our drive to Gros Morne National Park, splitting the driving by stopping overnight in Gander, NL.
